Gary Card

I'm already slightly familliar with Gary Card's work, as he produced some stuff for the "Oh! You Pretty Things" exhibition, which I helped produce some promotional video for. his work has a kind of colourful unity, everything I've seen so far has quite a definite sense of fun in it. This should help to counterbalance the quite serious (and if I'm honest, sometimes quite cynical) bent that I typically express in work.

This hand made aesthetic is something I find quite appealing, and making crazy costumes out of pieces of corrugated card has its obvious appeal. I also have a big thing about mannequins and puppets, so his work with dolls, and the busts made out of shirts covered in molten wax are very interesting.

The first thing that comes to mind in terms of concept is pursuing the kind of crazy narrative voice of the one minute Star Wars I helped make, or of Italian Spiderman
