'Cut the Crap'

⠂Stop the bullshit, say what you mean.

⠂Design artifacts' are challenging the art/design boundary.

⠂Can design practice be used to remove the pretentiousness of art?

⠂Can I get my work into an art exhibition for four consecutive months?


Design is ultimately about communication, as supposedly is fine art. However art has a tendency to attract pontification and 'wordsmithing', which has caused modern art to be somewhat of a joke. 'Cut the Crap' is designed to discover the reason for this whilst simultaneously challenging the art/design boundary. The outcome of the project should combine a sense of fun, engaging content that is conceptually sound and artistically valid.

An added bonus to pursuing this project is that considering that self-expression is inherent in creation it will help nurture a deeper self understanding of my practice. There is great crossover between this and my dissertation, and is indicative of my future career and practice. Documentation could take book or video form, in addition to the possibility of displaying the final 'art/design' artifact.
